Liquorice Extract

Also Knows as: Mulethi, Black Sugar, Glycyrrhiza glabra

Liquorice is an herb that grows in parts of Europe and Asia. The root is used as medicine. Liquorice root contains Glycyrrhizic acid. Liquorice is used for eczema, swelling (inflammation) of the liver (hepatitis), mouth sores, and many other conditions. The chemicals contained in liquorice are thought to decrease swelling, thin mucus secretions, decrease cough, and increase the chemicals in our body that heal ulcers.

Glycyrrhiza Glabra Extract

Liquorice Extract

Licorice is derived from the root of the plant known as Glycyrrhiza glabra, which is commonly known as Mulethi. Liquorice has been around for decades and has been utilized in traditional medicine, food, and personal care. What essentially makes a good Liquorice powder different from a formulation-grade Liquorice extract is how it has been processed and standardized.

At Extroil Naturals, we offer Liquorice extracts that are cleaned, tested, and ready for use in nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics.

Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL)

One of the major active ingredients present in Liquorice is Glycyrrhizin. Even though this ingredient is responsible for many of the properties of Liquorice, excessive quantities over a long period of time may not always be good for all.

For this reason, many supplement manufacturers prefer to use Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL) extracts. This is because, in this type of extract, the quantity of Glycyrrhizin is lowered while other supporting ingredients are retained. This makes it more suitable for digestive supplements that are intended for daily use.

Mono Ammonium Glycyrrhizinate (MAG)

We also supply Mono Ammonium Glycyrrhizinate (MAG), which is a purified derivative of Glycyrrhizic acid. MAG is valued for its defined composition and better solubility compared to crude extracts.

It is used in pharmaceutical preparations, oral care products, functional foods, and skincare formulations. In topical products, it is often selected for its calming properties. In syrups and lozenges, it can serve both a functional and flavor-supporting role due to its natural sweetness.

Providing extract, DGL, and MAG options allows formulators to choose based on the end application rather than adjusting around limitations.

Liquorice extract is used in supplements, beverages, syrups, confectionery, and cosmetic products. Regardless of the format, quality control remains essential. Variations in raw material or processing can significantly impact performance.

Our approach is straightforward: controlled extraction, defined active ranges, and proper documentation for every batch.
